The world is in trouble times with issues such as poverty, illness, unemployment, lawlessness, poor education, hunger, and the list goes on.
There are solutions, many of which may never happen because of the focus of governments of the world.
If the countries of this world spent less on war and redirected that money to other real human issues.
If the people of the world would impose their will on governments to address real human issues.
If mankind could consider caring and helping their less fortunate fellow man.
If greed and over consumption of material things could be converted into looking into assisting those without basic goods and services.
If waste and frivolous use of natural resources could be addressed.
If selfishness and self centeredness could be changed into volunteering and sharing.
If more people were sensitive to the needs and plight of so many in their community and the world.
Poverty is the worst form of violence.
We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our own homes to remedy this kind of poverty.
It is a tragic mix-up when the United States spends $500,000 for every enemy soldier killed, and only $53 annually on the victims of poverty.
Martin Luther King, Jr.
It is poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish.
In a country well governed, poverty is something to be ashamed of. In a country badly governed, wealth is something to be ashamed of.
Oh, the joys of those who are kind to the poor. The Lord rescues
them in times of trouble. The Lord protects them and keeps them alive. He gives
them prosperity and rescues them from their enemies. The Lord nurses them when
they are sick and eases their pain and discomfort.
It is a sin to despise one's neighbors; blessed are those who
help the poor.
Those who oppress the poor insult their Maker, but those who
help the poor honor him.
Those who mock the poor insult their Maker; those who rejoice at
the misfortune of others will be punished.
If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord - and he will

The rich and the poor have this in common: The Lord made them

Greed causes fighting; trusting the Lord leads to prosperity.

He will delight in obeying the Lord. He will never judge by
appearance, false evidence, or hearsay. He will defend the poor and the
He will defend the poor and the exploited.
But to the poor, O Lord, you are a refuge
from the storm.
When the poor and needy search for water and there is none, and
their tongues are parched from thirst, the I, the Lord, will answer them.
You felt secure in all your wickedness. 'No one sees me,' you said. Your 'wisdom' and 'knowledge' have caused you to turn away from me and claim, 'I am self-sufficient and not accountable to anyone!' So disaster will overtake you suddenly, and you won't be able to charm it away. Calamity will fall upon you, and you won't be able to buy your way out. A catastrophe will arise so fast that you won't know what hit you.
I want you to share your food with the hungry and to welcome
poor wanderers into your homes. Give clothes to those who need them, and do not
hide from relatives who need your help. If you do these things, your salvation
will come like the dawn. Yes, your healing will come quickly. Your godliness
will lead you forward, and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind.
Then when you call, the Lord will answer. "Yes, I am here," he will
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, because the Lord
has appointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the
brokenhearted and to announce that captives will be released and prisoners will
be freed. He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord's
favor has come, and with it, the day of God's anger against their enemies.
Judge fairly and honestly, and show mercy and kindness to one
another. Do not oppress widows, orphans, foreigners, and poor people. And do not
make evil plans to harm each other.
But wisdom is shown to be right by what results from it.
But wisdom is shown to be right by the lives of those who follow it.

at the resurrection of the godly, God will reward you for inviting those who
could not repay you.
All the believers were of one heart and mind, and they felt that
what they owned was not their own; they shared everything they had. And the
apostles gave powerful witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God's
great favor was upon them all. There was no poverty among them, because people
who owned land or houses sold them and brought the money to the apostles to give
to others in need.
Stop fooling yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world's standards, you will have to become a fool so you can become wise by God's standards. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God.
1 Corinthians 3:18-19
Our hearts ache, but we always have joy. We are poor, but we
give spiritual riches to others. We own nothing, and yet we have everything.

The only thing they suggested was that we
remember to help the poor, and I have certainly been eager to do that.
